Two strong bets: electro-technical and automation expertise, because ships increasingly fail in their control systems rather than their machinery; and alternative-fuel competence — LNG, methanol, ammonia — because decarbonization is forcing a fleet-wide propulsion transition that desperately needs qualified engineers. Both command premiums at sea and transfer directly to shore-side technical management.
