Elderly and diabetic patients — podiatry's bread and butter — are a growing population, and they need hands-on care more, not less. It's exactly the kind of dexterous, high-consequence physical task robotics is worst at. The unglamorous hands-on work is the job security.
Stack clinical skills: limited-scope X-ray licensure, wound care training, surgical assisting for in-office procedures, and orthotic scanning. Volunteer to own the practice's new software instead of fearing it. The assistants at risk are the ones who mostly answer phones; the ones in the treatment room are getting more valuable, not less.
