Historic gates, railings, and architectural ironwork legally or practically require traditional joinery — rivets, collars, forge welds — that fabrication shops can't fake, and heritage bodies specify hand techniques. The client base (councils, churches, conservation architects) pays professional rates and returns repeatedly. It's slow, exacting work, and almost perfectly sheltered from both machines and AI.
